Thomas Holloran, a long-time employee of appellant Crown Cork and Seal Co., Inc. (Crown), suffered brain damage from allegedly negligent medical treatment he received at appellee Metropolitan Hospital, Parkview Division. Pursuant to his union contract, Crown paid Holloran's medical expenses resulting from the incident, which now total over $200,000.
