Defendant, Kenneth Caldwell, was convicted of forgery (Ill.Rev.Stat.1991, ch. 38, par. 17-3(a)(2) (now 720 ILCS 5/17-3(a)(2) (West 1992))). The court sentenced him to two years' probation and ordered him to pay $5,500 in restitution.
