On June 8, 1988, Mildred ("Dolly") Ale was killed while riding as a passenger in a car driven by Robert Racik. On behalf of the estate and the survivors, Dolly's sister, Judy Cinghina (the personal representative of the estate) and Dolly's mother (Louise Marien) sued Mr. Racik and the company insuring the car (Government Employees Insurance Company) for wrongful death.
