This case requires us to step once again into the complexities of the relationship between church and state. At issue is the ownership and control of certain church property. Two groups claim to have validly elected the Board of Trustees of the Particular Primitive Baptist Church at Black Rock, Inc. The petitioner, the American Union of Baptists, Inc. (AUB), is a religious corporation located in Salisbury, Wicomico County, Maryland.
