On or about 27 January 1984, plaintiffs contracted with Corbett H. Nicholson of Nicholson Heating and Air Conditioning Co. to install a heating system in their home in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. During the following week, Nicholson Heating and Air Conditioning Co. installed a natural gas heating system in plaintiffs' home. Neither Corbett H. Nicholson nor plaintiffs obtained a permit from the City of Kings Mountain Building Standards Department...
