Defendant was charged in indictments, proper in form, with three counts of first-degree murder. The case initially was tried capitally at the 15 October 1984 Criminal Session of Superior Court, Bladen County, before Judge Hamilton H. Hobgood, and defendant was found guilty as charged on all counts. Following a sentencing proceeding pursuant to N.C.G.S. § 15A-2000, the jury recommended the death penalty...
