Douglas L. Gates ("Appellant") was indicted on one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, a class two felony and dangerous crime against children in violation of Ariz. Rev. Stat. Ann. ("A.R.S.") section 13-3553(A)(1) (1989). Appellant was tried, convicted, and sentenced to prison for the mandatory minimum term of twelve calendar years.
