The defendant appeals from his conviction, after a jury trial, of criminal possession of a pistol or revolver in violation of General Statutes (Rev. to 1991) § 53a-217 (a).1 The defendant claims that the trial court improperly (1) precluded him from cross-examining the victim concerning his pending civil action, (2) ruled on the granting of immunity for a potential defense witness, (3) refused to admit a statement
