The defendant appeals from a judgment of conviction, rendered after a jury trial, of assault of a correction officer pursuant to General Statutes § 53a-167c (a) (1),1 for which he was sentenced to eight years imprisonment. The defendant claims that he was punished twice for the same offense and, therefore, that his sentence should be vacated on the grounds of the double jeopardy...
