JACOBSON, Judge.

Richard D. Kiper (defendant) appeals from his convictions and the sentences imposed on one count of fraudulent schemes and artifices and five counts of theft. His appeal raises three issues:

1. Did the trial court err in permitting the state to introduce evidence that defendant had a criminal background? 2. Did the prosecutor commit fundamental error by making improper arguments concerning defendant's prior convictions...
