Rodney Holcomb was charged with cruelty to animals, reckless conduct, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, in connection with the shooting of a neighbor's dog. In a bifurcated trial, a jury acquitted him of the offenses of cruelty to animals and reckless conduct. The State then presented evidence of a prior felony conviction, and the jury found Holcomb guilty on the firearm charge. His motion...
