Plaintiff Linda Waller filed a complaint in the District Court for the Seventh Judicial District in Richland County to recover damages from defendant Virgil L. Hayden, M.D., for what she alleged was negligent surgical treatment, battery, and reckless disregard for her well-being. Waller's claims were presented to a jury during an eight-day trial.
