Plaintiff was arrested for trespass, at defendant Fred Meyer's instance, while attempting to gather initiative petition signatures on the premises of one of defendant's stores on October 11, 1989. After the criminal proceedings were terminated without a conviction, plaintiff brought this action, stating claims for false arrest and malicious prosecution and seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
