Plaintiff, Anna Grace Plumber, suffered a chemical burn on her right hand while undergoing chemotherapy at University Medical Center (UMC) in Lafayette. She and her husband, Joseph, sued the State of Louisiana through the Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR), alleging several theories of malpractice negligence and the lack of informed consent to undergo the chemotherapy treatment.
