Lawrence P. Ruiz was charged by bill of information with vehicular homicide, a violation of La.R.S. 14:32.1. After a jury trial, Ruiz was found guilty as charged; he was sentenced to serve fifteen years at hard labor as a second offender under La.R.S. 15:529.1.
