On February 17, 1987, Ronald Dean Combs, petitioner-appellant, was convicted of the aggravated murders of Peggy and Joan Shoonover. Both convictions were accompanied by gun and death specifications. Peggy Shoonover was petitioner's former girlfriend and the mother of his child. Joan Shoonover was Peggy Shoonover's mother.
