On November 8, 1989, Chad E. Goetsch shot and killed his mother with a bow and arrow. The State charged him with first-degree intentional homicide, § 940.01, STATS. The State charged him in a second count with first degree recklessly endangering the safety of his stepfather by his use of the bow and arrow, § 941.30(1) and § 939.63(1)(a)3, STATS.
