Brian Peters was indicted for the first degree murder of his estranged wife, Michelle Yarls, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30. Peters subsequently pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity. After appointment of a sanity commission, the trial court declared Peters incompetent to proceed to trial and remanded Peters to the Feliciana Forensic Facility.
