The defendants in this consolidated appeal were separately tried and convicted of various offenses. The defendants were then sentenced as Class X offenders under section 5-5-3(c)(8) of the Unified Code of Corrections (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 1005-5-3(c)(8)).
