OPINION

THOMAS, Justice.

The sole issue presented by this appeal is whether the trial court's discretion to excuse veniremembers extends beyond the time that the parties exercise their peremptory challenges. Because we conclude the trial court has authority to discharge veniremembers for sufficient excuse until the jury is impaneled and sworn, we affirm the trial court's judgment.
