In these consolidated cases, plaintiffs, former candidates for judge, Division "G", 22nd Judicial District Court, allege two causes of action for damages, one based on defendants' alleged negligent failure to obtain preclearance under the Federal Voting Rights Act of 1965 for the Division "G" election and the second based on defendants' alleged deprivation of plaintiffs' civil rights, arising under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.
