Ronald David Ludwig was indicted for the capital murder of Joseph and Matthew Trojacek, a father and son who were his brother-in-law and nephew. A jury found him guilty, and when the jury was unable to agree on the answer to either of the special issues submitted at the punishment hearing, the court assessed life in prison.
