In March 1992, a jury convicted defendant, Randall Seesengood, of theft of property having a value in excess of $10,000, a Class 2 felony (Ill.Rev.Stat.1991, ch. 38, pars. 16-1(a)(1)(A), (b)(5)), and acquitted him of unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle (Ill.Rev.Stat.1991, ch. 95½, par. 4-103(a)(1)).
