Defendant-Appellant Charles Allen Motes ("Appellant") appeals from his conviction of first-degree murder under NMSA 1978, Section 30-2-1(A)(1) (Repl.Pamp.1994).1 The conviction stems from the murder of his ex-wife, Stella Motes, on June 27, 1993.
