Following a jury trial, Donald Ray Zelinger (defendant) was found guilty of second degree murder. § 565.021.1(1).1 Defendant was charged as and found to be a persistent offender and sentenced to imprisonment for life without eligibility for parole for thirty years. §§ 558.016.3 and .7 and § 558.019.2, RSMo Supp.1990.
