Emergency medical services personnel (EMTs) and their sponsoring organizations are granted immunity from liability for negligence by section 17 of the Illinois Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Systems Act (Ill. Rev.Stat.1991, ch. 111½, par. 5517), and section 1 of the Law Enforcement Emergency Care Act (Ill.Rev.Stat.1991, ch. 70, par. 61).
