Defendant, Douglas Coleman, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1991, ch. 38, par. 9-1(a)(2) (now 720 ILCS 5/9-1(a)(2) (West 1992))) and three counts of armed robbery (Ill.Rev. Stat.1991, ch. 38, par. 18-2(a) (now 720 ILCS 5/18-2(a) (West 1992))). The court sentenced defendant to an extended term of 85 years' imprisonment on the murder conviction and to extended terms of 50 years...
