The defendant-appellant, Wayne H. Grant, was charged with one count of aggravated battery, a violation of La.R.S. 14:34. He was arraigned and entered a plea of not guilty. Following a jury trial, he was found guilty of second degree battery, a violation of La.R.S. 14:34.1. The trial court sentenced appellant to three years at hard labor.
