Petitioner Arthur Clawson brings this action under 28 U.S.C. § 2255 to set aside the 25-year sentence (without parole) I imposed upon him for being an ex-felon in possession of a gun. The sentence was imposed pursuant to a statute (since repealed) that decreed mandatory minimum sentences for any person found in possession of a gun "who has three previous convictions" for robbery or burglary. 18 U.S.C.App. 1202(a) (1982...
