This is a workers' compensation case. The plaintiff, Alvin Thomas, was injured during the course and scope of his employment with Union Tank Car Company (Union Tank) on October 5, 1986, when an airhose struck his left knee. All weekly compensation benefits and medical expenses were paid through November 8, 1989.
