The defendant, Jeremy Brown, was indicted on January 15, 1992, for the crimes of obstruction of justice, simple arson, and second degree murder committed on August 28, 1990. The victim was the defendant's father, Lee Earl Brown. The defendant waived his right to trial by jury, and the state later dismissed the obstruction of justice charge.
