The defendant is charged in a one count indictment with violating sections 922(e) and 924(a)(1)(D) of Title 18 of the United States Code. Section 922(e) provides, in pertinent part:

It shall be unlawful for any person knowingly to deliver or cause to be delivered to any common or contract carrier for transportation or shipment in interstate or foreign commerce, to persons other than licensed importers, licensed...
