WEAVER, Justice.

Appellant, Elliott Sirvan Watson, was charged by indictment with the offense of murder. See Tex.Penal Code Ann. § 19.02 (Vernon 1994). The State alleged appellant stabbed his mother to death with a knife. Appellant plead not guilty and asserted the affirmative defense of insanity.
