Defendant, Alvin Clark, was charged by grand jury indictment with second degree murder, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1. Clark subsequently entered a plea of not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity. A sanity commission determined Clark was competent to assist in his defense at trial and he was sane at the time of the offense. On the morning of trial, Clark withdrew his plea of not guilty and not guilty...
