This appeal relates to a personal injury action concerning a single car accident in which the passenger was killed. The deceased left behind a three-year-old son, and the provisional tutor filed suit on his behalf against the driver of the vehicle, her insurance company, and the State of Louisiana, through the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD). The trial court found the DOTD liable and awarded damages in the amount of $575,910.00...
