After a joint trial by separate juries, the defendants Alfred Beamon and Quinton Moore were found guilty of murder, residential burglary and armed violence and sentenced to 80 years' imprisonment. Before trial, the defendants filed motions to suppress their confessions on the ground that their confessions were the result of illegal arrests. The trial judge denied the motions.
