The defendant appeals from a judgment of conviction, rendered after a trial to the court, of assault in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-59 (a) (1).1 He claims that the trial court improperly admitted testimony that focused on the defendant's invocation of his constitutionally protected right to silence.
