Justice SLATER delivered the opinion of the court:

A jury found the defendant, Donna L. Crowder, guilty of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and aggravated discharge of a firearm (Ill.Rev. Stat.1991, ch. 38, pars. 8-4, 9-1, 12-4.2, 24-1.2). She was sentenced to a ten-year term of imprisonment. She appeals, and we reverse and remand for a new trial.
