Justice MURRAY delivered the opinion of the court:

After a bench trial defendant, Dr. Luis d'Avis (d'Avis) was found guilty of the misdemeanor, battery, (Ill.Rev.Stat.1991, ch. 38, par. 12-3(a)(2)), and sentenced to one year probation. He now appeals his conviction and sentence.

Because the facts of this case are not in dispute and repulsive to recount, we give only a brief accounting here.
