On August 8, 1988, Elsie Eskridge (Elsie) was found dead in the house in Glenwood Park where she had formerly resided with her estranged husband, plaintiff Herbert Eskridge. Elsie owned three life insurance policies and had named plaintiff as the beneficiary of each.
