This action is brought by the committee on professional conduct (the committee), which petitions this court to suspend the respondent, Jeremy Welts, from the practice of law in this State for a period of six months. On October 24, 1990, we appointed a Judicial Referee (Bean, J.) to conduct a hearing on the committee's petition.
