In 1989, Stowe-Pharr Mills (hereafter Stowe-Pharr) in McAdenville, North Carolina, hired BCF Piping, Inc. (hereafter BCF) to perform refurbishing services in one area of its plant. BCF delivered a welding machine to the job site to be used by BCF's employees. Before the welding machine was delivered to Stowe-Pharr, it was inspected by a BCF employee, Mr. Ellis.
