Defendant Rico Taylor was charged by indictment No. 88-12662 with two counts of first degree murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1987 ch. 38, par. 9-1(a)(1)) and one count of armed violence (Ill.Rev.Stat.1987, ch. 38, par. 33A2).
