BOWMAN, Circuit Judge.

Gerald Boyd appeals the District Court's1 denial of his petition for a writ of habeas corpus filed pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254 (1988). Boyd argues that the District Court erred in adopting the magistrate judge's2 report and recommendation, which recommended dismissal of two of Boyd's claims as procedurally barred and dismissal of the remaining claims on the merits. We affirm.
