After a trial by jury in the circuit court of Cook County, defendant, James Bohanan, was convicted of attempted first-degree murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1985, ch. 38, pars. 8-4(a), 9-1), two counts of armed violence (Ill.Rev.Stat.1985, ch. 38, par. 33A-2(1)), and two counts of aggravated battery (Ill. Rev.Stat.1985, ch. 38, par. 12-4(a)). Judgment was entered on the count of attempted first-degree murder and on one count...
