Appellant appeals from the trial court's grant of an adoption and the termination of his visitation and custodial rights with respect to his ex-wife's son.

Appellant and Sharon Silverstein ("Mrs. Silverstein") were married on April 1, 1988 and lived together in North Carolina until they separated in May 1989. The couple entered into a separation agreement in contemplation of divorce which provided in part that appellant have visitation privileges...
