Craig Ryan Shelton appealed from his convictions of aggravated battery against a law enforcement officer, K.S.A. 21-3415, a class B felony, and aggravated escape from custody, K.S.A. 21-3810, a class E felony. In an unpublished opinion, the Court of Appeals found the trial court lacked jurisdiction to try Shelton as an adult and reversed and remanded the case. We granted the State's petition for review.
