On March 21, 1989, appellant Healthfirst treated Miguel Rodriguez ("Rodriguez") as an emergency patient. On April 14, 1989, Rodriguez was admitted to debtor-appellee Martha Washington Hospital ("Martha Washington") where he subsequently died.
