William A. Lester, trustee for the bankruptcy estate of Daniel E. Harper, filed suit in the Circuit Court of DuPage County, Illinois, against Arlington Heights Federal Savings and Loan Association (Arlington), alleging that Arlington had breached a loan commitment to Harper. A jury verdict was returned in favor of Lester and against Arlington in the amount of $18,645,000. Arlington moved for judgment notwithstanding the verdict (JNOV)
