In this case, a 43 year old widow seeks recovery for injuries sustained during an operation. Plaintiff Mary Hanna suffered from recurrent infection of the saliva or "parotid" gland. After several years of treatment, including a partial parotidectomy in 1987, plaintiff underwent a complete parotidectomy in 1988.
